Do you want to make a difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities? Bruce Peninsula Association for Community Living is a non profit organization located on the Bruce Peninsula that supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live meaningful, active lifestyles in their community. You will be joining a team of dedicated and committed support workers whose mission is to promote people participating and contributing fully in their community and becoming all they can be.
This past year has transformed the delivery of our community participation services and we now have a further opportunity this summer to enhance recreation and leisure activities through a Canada Summer Jobs Grant. This role will place an emphasis on those individuals who do not regularly participate in existing activities. While being mindful of COVID restrictions, the individual will coordinate activities within the community that will appeal to a wide range of individuals to expand opportunities for recreation and leisure.
Responsibilities
 Work each day towards supporting people based on the mission, vision and values of Bruce Peninsula Association for Community Living;
 Coordinate, and facilitate a recreation and leisure program for people with an intellectual disability;
 Facilitate a daily, weekly and monthly recreation and leisure program;
 Problem solve on any given day to manage elements that may impact planned activities, such as weather;
 To have fun and encourage individuals to enjoy themselves and be physically active.
 To develop and coordinate creative/musical activities that would appeal to supported individuals.
 Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
 Must have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
 Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
 Demonstrated interest in the field of recreation and leisure;
 Currently enrolled in a College program specific to recreation and leisure is preferred;
 Team player with an ability to work independently;
 Demonstrated creativity;
 Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral), interpersonal skills;

 Enjoys interacting with people, and previous experience working with people with an intellectual disability an asset;
 Current First Aid/CPR;
Hourly Rate: $14.26
Hours of Work: Temporary full-time (40hrs per week) commencing mid-June for approximately 10 weeks. Hours may change subject to the needs of the people supported and could include day, evening, and/or weekend shifts.
